04/03/2008 - Planning is underway for SMI's International Congress of Mucosal Immunology (ICMI). The meeting will be held July 5-9, 2009 at the Boston Marriott Copley Place, Boston, Massachusetts. Information about the meeting will be posted as it becomes available.
FIRN 2008
03/24/2008 - The Frontiers in Immunology Research Network (FIRN) invites you to participate in its 2008 Conference to be held in the Florence, Italy, at the Croce di Malta Hotel, July 22-26, 2008. The conference welcomes researchers from academia, corporations, governments and other organizations. Participants may present their research findings, display their posters, participate in roundtables or simply observe. To participate as a PRESENTER please submit via email and post ABSTRACTS and/or brief descriptions of POSTERS (of no more than 200 words) along with your complete details by March 30th, 2008. SMI Contributes Symposia at Major Meetings in 2008
 Four SMI members will present at the SMI-sponsored symposium titled 'Immune Regulation and Mucosal Homeostasis,' which will be at 2:45, April 7, 2008 in conjunction with the AAI 2008 Annual Meeting in San Diego. Microbes & Mucosal Immunity 2008
02/15/2008 - The Digestive Health Center at the University of Virginia and the Society for Mucosal Immunology (www.socmucimm.org) are hosting a comprehensive introductory course describing the impact of mucosal diseases on society and the current research techniques that are used to address these problems June 25-27, in Charlottesville, VA. The goal of this NIH-sponsored course is to provide trainees with a background covering the challenges and technical approaches relevant to mucosal immunity that will help them plan their training agenda and professional development. This course is directed towards undergraduates in science, mathematics, biomedical engineering and medicine; graduate students; medical residents; and post-doctoral research/clinical fellows. Lectures and discussions will be led by an international cadre of scientists who have achieved successful careers in academics or industry related to mucosal health. The format will include overview lectures and state-of-the-art research presentations that consist of a thorough introduction to the field and the novel technical approaches used to investigate the research questions.
