Description
The Society for Mucosal Immunology and the Digestive Health Center at the University of Virginia are hosting a comprehensive introductory course describing the impact of mucosal diseases on society and the current research techniques that are used to address these problems. This course will be held in conjunction with the 14th International Congress of Mucosal Immunology. The goal of this NIH-sponsored course is to provide trainees with a background covering the challenges and technical approaches relevant to mucosal immunity to help them plan their future professional development.
Target Audience
The program is directed towards undergraduate and graduate students in biology, microbiology, immunology, medicine, veterinary medicine, math & statistics, and biomedical engineering; medical residents; and post-doctoral research/clinical fellows interested in diseases of mucosal tissues such as the digestive tract. Lectures and discussions will be led by an international cadre of scientists who have achieved successful careers in academics or industry related to mucosal health.
