Salary Range

Essential Functions
Successful candidates will join an interactive group of faculty within the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology and the South Texas Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases. Research strengths comprise host-microbe interactions and molecular microbiology, including mycology, bacteriology and parasitology, microbiome, T and B cell function, novel vaccine design, autoimmunity, and drug discovery. The department and the college offer exceptional technical resources in many areas with access to expert personnel and core facilities, including flow cytometry and cell sorting, confocal microscopy, electron microscopy, proteomics, genomics and a BSL3 facility

Required Qualifications
• A Ph.D. degree with postdoctoral research experience in microbiology or immunology.
• A record of high-quality of research.
• Potential to conduct and maintain an active research program to successfully secure extramural grants.
• Potential to success in teaching and professional service activities.
• The ability and desire to work collegially with faculty from diverse cultural background.
• The ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of diverse urban populations and support the University's commitment to thrive as a Hispanic Serving Institution and a model for student success.

Preferred Qualifications
• We are particularly interested in applicants using cutting-edge approaches to study bacterial interactions within microbiome communities and/or with a host, including at mucosal surfaces.
