SMI is pleased to offer members of all experience levels funding assistance for attending conferences, visiting mentors and colleagues, holding muculent meetings, and more. Here are a few formal funding programs we have set up.
Travel Awards
Travel awards are granted to SMI members in need of financial assistance for travel costs, childcare, and other financial hardships incurred when attending a muculent meeting or conference.

Technique-Sharing Grants
SMI funds members who are traveling to meet a colleague to exchange techniques, research, and more. Only travel trainees can fill out the application, and a letter of support provided by the principal investigator is required.

Mentorship Program
SMI helps match young scientists with more-experienced mucosal immunologists throughout the world. The two-year mentorship focuses on assisting mentees in the development of their independent scientific programs, grant writing, networking, and other skills.

External Meeting Support
SMI is proud to offer support for external and non-SMI meetings with the goal of advancing the mucosal immunology in the scientific community at large.

Local Chapter Junior Investigator Meetings
The Society for Mucosal Immunology has recently launched the Local Chapter Junior Investigator Grants Program to provide funding for junior SMI members who wish to host a small “local Chapter” Meeting relevant to the Mucosal Immunology field.
